Lago, a highly anticipated Italian restaurant at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, unfortunately fell short of our expectations. Despite its luxurious ambiance and prime location, the food quality and service did not justify the high price point.
Atmosphere and Service
The restaurant's elegant décor and attentive waitstaff created a pleasant atmosphere. However, the service, while professional, was unable to compensate for the shortcomings in the food.
Food Quality
The dishes we ordered were underwhelming, with several lacking flavor, being overcooked, or poorly presented.
* Seared Scallops: The seared scallops were undercooked, feeling rubbery on the inside. They lacked a proper sear, resulting in a less flavorful and visually unappealing dish.
* Bland Antipasto: The cured meats on the antipasto board were flavorless, despite the visually appealing presentation.
* Dry Bruschetta: The bread for the bruschetta was dry and hard, lacking the expected crispness.
* Overpowering Lemon: The lemon tagliolini was excessively lemony, with little to no butter present. The added shrimp, despite the high price, lacked any seasoning and appeared to be simply boiled.
Drinks & Dessert
While the drink service was quick and punctual, the drinks themselves were just ok. The standout was their unique version of an Old Fashioned, which was infused with smoke at the table. The overall presentation was acceptable, but the flavors of the drinks were forgettable. As for dessert, we sampled the chocolate cake and tiramisu. The desserts outshone the main meal in terms of quality and taste, but they weren't enticing enough to make us want to come back.
Conclusion
Given the high price point and the numerous other dining options available in Las Vegas, we would not recommend Lago. The disappointing food quality and service do not justify the cost. For those seeking a memorable Italian dining experience in Las Vegas, we suggest exploring other options that offer better value and flavor.
